Lawrence County has a thriving medical community including a county-owned medical center, which includes a hospital, nursing home, specialty clinics and a childcare center. Lawrence Health Services, located in Walnut Ridge, has been in operation since 1960 and has seen many changes including the addition of services, including a 24-hour emergency room; improvements in technology and equipment; and facility expansions and upgrades.

Walnut Ridge and Hoxie are also located within 30 miles of a major regional medical center.

Walnut Ridge is also home to Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center. The center offers long-term and short-term care.
